musical freckles

A lot of memories run through my mind while designing the invitations for my old college friend. Particularly today -watching the rainy weather outside my window while listening to Stan Getz takes me back to some earlier years...

What if...the little rain drops could leave us their musical freckles on our window pane, which song would you like to hear?

shimmering grey cover

Here is a wedding invitation set I printed early this morning, featuring shimmering grey paper as an introductory cover to go on top of the white invitation. I love the simplicity of the bird and butterfly design chosen by a very talented couple who are also architects. The bride-to-be is a dear friend from my college days and I am so happy to be part of her love journey.

I am running off to photograph the invitations and print the rest of the matching table place cards for the calligrapher...

first custom plate

My first custom plate for the letterpress is here! This is not exactly the final design layout. It's a parts-n-pieces, ready to be dissected and re-assembled for a wedding design package. "So many fragments, so many beginnings, so many pleasures . . ." (Roland Barthes)

downtown tampa

We had a spectacular weekend in downtown Tampa. Both of the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts and the free admission to the Tampa Museum of the Art were great! My daughter and I had a wonderful time skipping underneath the cantilevering structure of the museum while looking over the park with a full view of the artists' white top booths!

letterpress custom plate

Two days ago, I sent off a design file to Boxcar Press to have a custom plate made for my first letterpress job. I can barely control my excitement to receive this plate in the mailbox. I am so looking forward to print these invitations...yay!  Check out Boxcar Press music video .

Steve Heaver

Last summer I was fortunate enough to meet a hand press printer Steve Heaver at The Tampa Book Arts working on his Lankes project. Heaver is a well respected "printer's printer" for his meticulous press work. I was so amazed by the amount of work that went into one of his pages.  Since then I have this terrible thirst to get my hands on the letterpress work.

Hermes manual typewriter

I recently acquired an old Hermes typewriter from a local Bohemian Vintage shop nearby my house. There is something really beautiful about listening to the keys click away. Soon I'll be releasing a new line of cards featuring some of these manual typewriting fonts. This is going to be so much fun!

Visiting Birds Thank You Cards

HaPpILy, they pirched...
A twitter here, a melody there.
Quietly, summer turned in to fall...
Turned in to winter.
A time to release,
for wings to exhale...
To fly, to soar,
and to return...
Again,
together.
To pirch, to sit,
And to chirp.

This winter, our visiting birds have migrated to another beautiful tree in Tampa.  Please visit them at Bohemian Vintage where they will be displayed & hApPiLy perched for your viewing and most thoughtful pleasures.
REMEMBER, each purchase of a visiting bird Thank You card helps support World Habitat 2009 and contributes to making our neighborhoods a better place to live!  Please take some time to support this great cause!

2010 desk calendar

2010 desk calendar : Nebular Landscape
I decided to design a desk calendar for the year 2010. These landscapes reminded my husband of the star formation beyond the milky way so I named them Nebular Landscape. Each of these images is 3.5" x 3.5". They are printed on 110lb Neenah 100% FSC certified post consumer fiber thick cover stock. The printing is on its way, so you can pre-order these desk calendars today at sales@tweeprints.com . They can also be personalized with your name on the top. These 12 colorful images are packaged in a clear jewel case that folds back to create a stand.

amy's fun fact of the day

On August 5, 1926, while traveling in the Humboldt Mountains of Tibet's Kokonor region, Nicholas Roerich reported that members of his expedition saw "something big and shiny reflecting the sun, like a huge oval moving at great speed."

"Crossing our camp the thing changed in its direction from south to southwest. And we saw how it disappeared in the intense blue sky. We even had time to take our field glasses and saw quite distinctly an oval form with shiny surface, one side of which was brilliant from the sun.”

"...A shiny body flying from north to south. Field glasses are at hand. It is a huge body. One side glows in the sun. It is oval in shape. Then it somehow turns in another direction and disappears in the southwest."

birds on wire

Hi. This is exciting, my very first blog! While waiting for my morning tea, I can drop a few lines or feathers or beaking news...

Oh yes, I stopped by to see Steven yesterday at the City Street Sweets to take down Tweeprints' first exhibition of the Visiting Birds thank you cards. It was so nice to see these lovely birds hanging on the wire. Let see if I could ask Amy or my brother to post some pics for us.
